The 2026 Inspirational Family is the Senft Family and the Seneca Valley Hope Squad.
The Senft Family - In April 2026, fourth-grader Roman Senft began experiencing severe headaches that persisted for several days. His mother took him to the emergency room, where a CT scan revealed a hemorrhaging brain tumor. Roman was immediately transferred to UPMC Children's Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Doctors later confirmed the devastating diagnosis of a malignant pediatric brain tumor.
Roman is currently receiving proton therapy at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, while also participating in a clinical trial. Despite the challenges he faces, Roman continues to demonstrate remarkable courage, resilience, and optimism. His determination to stay positive and inspire others has touched everyone who has met him.
While St. Jude provides exceptional medical care, the financial and emotional challenges of traveling for treatment, being away from home, and managing everyday expenses continue to place a significant burden on the Senft family.
Through the generosity of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and community supporters, the Cranberry CUP is proud to help ease some of those burdens so the Senft family can focus on what matters most - Roman's treatment, healing, and time together as a family.
Roman's strength and unwavering spirit remind us all of the power of hope, perseverance, and the incredible impact a caring community can have during life's most difficult moments.
The Seneca Valley Hope Squad - Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention program for students in grades 7–12 that promotes mental health awareness, connectedness, and early intervention. Students nominated by their peers are trained to recognize warning signs, offer support, and connect classmates with trusted adults and professional resources. Community support through financial contributions helps fund student training, school-wide mental health awareness initiatives, Hope Week activities, and resources that empower students to foster a culture of hope, inclusion, and belonging throughout our schools and the greater Seneca Valley community.
"While it takes a village to raise a child, we believe it takes an entire community to save one." — Dr. Greg Hudnall, Founder of Hope Squad
